Optometry is the practice of measuring eyesight, prescribing corrective lenses, and detecting eye diseases, among other things. Optometrists are doctors of the eyes, specializing in treating ocular diseases and providing care for vision loss. They are your first point of contact for everything eye-related.

What is an optometrist?

Doctors of optometry are America’s primary eye health care providers. They are the frontline of eye and vision care. Optometrists not only examine eyes, they diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the eye. Not only do they provide eye and vision care, but they also play a key role in an individual’s overall health and well-being by identifying and co-managing systemic diseases, such as hypertension and diabetes. Optometrists usually complete eight years of schooling to include: pre-professional undergraduate education and an additional four years of professional education at a college of optometry, leading to the doctor of optometry (O.D.) degree. Some doctors of optometry complete an optional residency in a specific area of practice. (AOA)

Promontory Family Vision in Ogden, UT

I went in just for a checkup. The optometrist was very good and was very honest and straight forward with his answers. When he wasn’t sure about something, he said as much, and when he had strong opinions he expressed those as well. The facility was nice and the equipment up to date. All in all in was a very nice experience and i would recommend.
